Loukia Hadjiyianni
Loukia is a Cypriot-Georgian photographer and emerging film director, best known for her intimate portrayals of women and her exploration of femininity. Her work is deeply influenced by her experiences growing up in a conservative, patriarchal society, and focuses on themes of nostalgia and memory. Through her portraits, often set against the backdrop of Cyprus, Loukia creates a space to reflect on the complexities of womanhood and identity.
Her practice examines how personal and cultural histories shape the experience of being a woman, with an emphasis on the emotional landscapes of memory and transformation. By exploring these themes, Loukia’s work explores the intricate layers of identity shaped by the intersection of culture, memory, and personal experience.
Born and raised in Cyprus, Loukia now lives in Berlin, where she continues to develop long-term projects exploring femininity, nostalgia, and memory.
